Candidates need to have a basic working knowledge of computers.

Course Overview
ECDL START is suitable for individuals who would like to have their computer skills certified at an officially recognised level but feel that doing the full ECDL programme is a big undertaking in time and resources. This certificate is called ECDL START and is awarded by ECDL Ireland. The cert will be awarded to individuals who have 4 ECDL exams completed.

This new course allows individuals to breakdown the ECDL qualification in to two blocks and allows companies and individuals to commit to ECDL on a more reduced basis.

ECDL Start offers training and certification in all the popular workplace programs. And candidates can complete the three remaining ECDL exams at their convenience if they decide to go for the full ECDL qualification at a later date. ECDL START covers Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet and Email. It also includes a straightforward short paper on IT Theory.

Participants will qualify in 4 ECDL modules and hold an ECDL START Certificate at the end of the course.

ECDL START Certificate
This is a new Certificate from ECDL and is recognised both in Europe and internationally. This certificate verifies your standard of computer skills, in the most popular programs in the workplace, to existing and future employers.

3 hours one evening per week 9 weeks
Days Full Day one day per week 4.5/5 weeks

Course Content
The ECDL course consists of 4 core modules covering the fundamental areas in desktop computers today.

  • Word Processing (Word)
  • Spreadsheets (Excel)
  • Internet & Email
  • IT -Theory

An exam will be taken in four modules. These can be sat in any order or as many times as required within 3 years of the first exam taken. 21st Century work with each module individually, providing tuition and administering the exam before moving on to the next module.

Outcome
On completion of this course you will have attained a benchmark standard in the use of the common computer applications. You will possess a certificate to verify this standard to your current or future employer.

General Public: €340 + ECDL Fees €40 for Skills Card + €15 for ECDL START Certificate

Each Training programme will have a minimum Deposit required to confirm booking on the course. Full payment for the course is due prior to commencement of the course or on the first night of the course. Cancellation - If you cancel the course 1 week in advance we will refund your deposit. If cancellation is received less than one week in advance of the course commencing, a refund will be dependant on our ability to fill your place on the course. Please note that the ability to replace you on a course is not guaranteed and subsequently the ability to offer a refund is not guaranteed. Once you have commenced the course no refund will be available.
